Frequently asked questions

What’s the biggest difference?

While there are a few features listed in the chart above that we only offer with the Pro HIPAA Plan, the biggest difference is our Secondary Consent feature.

In particular, the Standard Plan has some limitations with this feature:

  • Standard Plan does not allow bulk consent requests, meaning you have to individually request consent from contacts.
  • Standard Plan does not allow manual consent overrides, so if you collected consent from patients outside of the platform, you will still need to collect consent within our system.

Should I choose Pro or Standard?

You should choose the Pro HIPAA Plan if you want the ability to:

  • Request patient consent to text in bulk
  • Manually override Textline’s Secondary Consent feature because you’ve collected opt-ins elsewhere
  • Access features like the Unified Inbox, Routes, Timer Automations, or Custom Surveys

How Textline’s Secondary Consent feature works

Here’s a breakdown of how Textline’s Secondary Consent process works. In general, until explicit HIPAA consent is given to text your contacts, you can’t message them. This greatly protects your organization. Here are the steps:
1

When messaging a patient for the first time, Textline agents will see a button that allows them to request consent.

2

When the button is clicked, a templated message will be sent to the recipient.

3

The contact must reply with Yes or No.

4

If a contact replies “Yes,” they get an automated message stating they can now text with your organization. You can now message this contact freely.

5

If a contact replies “No,” they will get a message stating your organization won’t contact them, but how to subscribe if they change their mind.

Textline stores each contact’s consent so you always have it on record. The Pro Plan will allow you to override this consent process if you’ve already documented and stored patient consent from a different platform.
