The goal of a Double SMS Consent Auto Reply is to confirm subscribers were successfully added to your contact list and to welcome them to your SMS channel. 

For example, say a subscriber opts into your texting service and completes their double consent after business hours. You’ll want to send a welcome or confirmation message to the subscriber as soon as the opt-in process is completed.
