Certain SMS use cases, such as HIPAA-compliant texting or marketing SMS, legally require express written consent from contacts before texting them. Textline ensures our customers get this required opt-in with our Pro Contact Consent feature. For customers using this consent feature, a Double SMS Consent Auto Reply Automation can be set up to trigger a message to customers after they confirm consent.
The goal of this Automation is to confirm subscribers were successfully added to your contact list and to welcome them to your SMS channel. For example, say a subscriber opts into your texting service and completes their double consent after business hours. You’ll want to send a welcome or confirmation message to the subscriber as soon as the opt-in process is completed. With this Automation, subscribers will receive a welcome or confirmation message back from your office regardless of the time of day or how busy your agents are.
Let’s look at how to set up this Automation in Textline’s platform.
In the Automations window, click New Automation.
Select Build From Scratch.
Name your Automaton and choose your Department.
Select Consent Given for the automation type and confirm the Automation is set up in the right Department.
This signals Textline that you want the action to occur once a contact has completed the double opt-in consent and specifies the Department.
Set any rules or conditions you want met.
Conditions are rules that cause an Automation to fire or prevent it from triggering. You don’t need to have conditions, but they can help you place rules around the Automation.
For example, if you’d like to prevent your message from sending outside of business hours, you could click Add Condition and select Current time is from the drop-down menu to ensure the message goes out during your hours of operation.
Next, choose the Send a message action and type out your desired message.

Preview your Automation.
Double-check your Automation by reviewing conditions and proofreading your message.
Finally, click Create Automation to start automatically welcoming your consented subscribers!
